As far as my memory goes, I've always dug the underground. From the dark recesses of the city to the edges of sanity, in search of the perfect spot to carve out my ego and unleash my rage. I've come across hidden treasures buried and still glowing. - JNK
Dante, Beccafumi, Malraux, Mantegna, Baudelaire. Painting masters, poets, and writers have continuously explored, composed, fantasized, and reflected on the limbo; this intangible area between life and death, hell and heaven. Art, its mercenaries, the enslaved and prophets have questioned the divine, trying to explain creation, existence and mortality. Original creation. Genesis. An attempt to relieve the anxiety inherent to our condition. Living and soon to be dead. Is this the purpose of art? Repairing its creator and pacifying the observer? Or is it about destroying, reducing to dust those who summon its magic and distorting who falls into its abyss?
Many have described Limbo as a place where one falls. Others have spoken, in the manner of oriental mystics, of ascension. Does [LIMBO] 辺獄, the artist, carry on the tradition of his forefather? Is he questioning the myth or simply bearing its name? Is this the place where he places himself? Or the one he is trying to escape from, the one he envisions, not simply as a probability but as something tangible, reachable through those gates opened by the mind mirrors and conductive substances offered by nature? [LIMBO] 辺獄, the artist, is inviting us to elevation.
[LIMBO] 辺獄 caught me with his purples, pinks and poisonous gradations of colors. He captured me with the vision of alternative realities, a world of spirit, a bridge between hells and deliverance, a magical and psychedelic breakout. [LIMBO] 辺獄’s art is an unpredictable journey yet full of poetic expectations. The antithesis of a bad trip. Telepaths, heroes, outcasts and misfits come together, blend, struggle, recover, and migrate in this universe, transported to a place where worlds collide. A place suspended in time.
LIMBO is a professional comic book artist based in Venice,Italy. He’s just finished illustrating His name is Banksy, a hardcover comic book about street art legend Banksy, and he is currently creating exclusive art for an ongoing sci-fi series debuting on Lucca Comics in 2023.
