Fun, goopy, sometimes messy, always poignant.

Sanchisimo finds a way to balance esoteric ideas while keeping a lighthearted feel with these pop art motion pieces.

The world has a way of breaking down the child inside us all as grow. It’s the job of the artist to hold on to that child-like wonder.

“For as long as I can remember I was always looking for some form of personal expression,” says Sanchisimo, “but I never got to deepen much. They were always almost childish but very personal explorations, from drawing, photography, 3D, video art, animation or cinema.”

“What I like about the GIF is that it's on play all the time, it doesn't appear with a horrible triangle covering it up and waiting for someone to give it the command to play. That combined with the loop is very powerful, it makes it an autonomous work with no beginning or end, you can contemplate the piece as long as you want.”

And the more you contemplate Sanchisimo’s work the more you see how deep he has managed to delve into his art.

“As a body part I use the heart a lot,” he explains, “More organic and natural as opposed to the cute and synthetic heart that is used as an icon everywhere. I think it's weird how it got from one form to the other and I like to play with that simply.”

Keep contemplating.

Why is Sanchisimo concerned with the heart icon used for likes?

“Our connection to technology certainly became a very present theme in my work,” Sanchisimo continues, “I very consciously avoid making a value judgment about it. If you determine that something is good it is hard to see the negative nuances and if you judge that something is bad it will be hard to find the good aspects it may have. I believe that technology, networks or connections nowadays configure a perfect pipeline for us to communicate and circulate information. We must be aware that it is almost a natural ecosystem for many and it depends on our responsible use that this pipeline system does not become a sewer. Not only as generators of the content that circulates there but also as consumers. I think it is very important to support when we see someone throwing quality content and be aware that the time we spend watching (even if we don't like or interact) junk content we will be sending a signal ‘we want more of this.’”

Suddenly, Feed On Line becomes crystal clear.

Sanchisimo’s short GIFs pack in enough depth and meaning to easily transmit a complex idea. Even that seems to be purposeful.

“I like to think that someday someone who spends time researching and making complex topics understandable will be more successful than someone who makes astrology memes.”

That day is coming if we all keep contemplating.
